Framing Statement: As a social work major, I will be in a healthcare profession. I will have to provide equitable care to each patient as well as truly figure out what their needs may be, whether that be in the foster care system, a school, a hospital, or many other areas where social workers can be. By performing literary critique in this class, I have taken into account all aspects of a literary piece, such as the plot, its structure, the hidden meaning, etc. As a comparison to the work I’ll be doing in the future, I will need to take into account all information regarding the cases I will have: family life, mental health, physical health, etc. to make informed decisions regarding my patient. So, if we look at the “wider intellectual and cultural context”(Frank 2022), where does social work and theory come together? Being able to analyze information in a cultural or intellectual way will provide me with the means to take situations with client and choose the best way forward when providing them care.
